What is Sculptra?
Sculptra dermal fillers are different than hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane. This unique dermal filler is made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) instead of hyaluronic acid. PLLA is a biostimulator that boosts collagen production to restore age-related volume loss and smooth deep facial wrinkles. Collagen and elastin are proteins in the skin that maintain its firm, elastic texture and youthful, glowing complexion.
As we age, the body’s collagen production decreases, and the skin loses elasticity, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles. Facial aging and facial fat loss can also create a giant appearance with hollowed cheeks and/or temples. Sculptra dermal fillers combat these effects and slow down the aging process by restoring natural collagen production.

Testimonial
“Before meeting with Dana, I saw myself aging in the mirror despite feeling young inside. I had never had any type of aesthetic procedure done before and was very uncertain about doing anything. Dana immediately put me at ease and helped me define a treatment plan specifically designed for my needs. Within a few days the results were visible, and I was thrilled. I felt great both inside and out.”

Since Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production, it is safe for most healthy adult men and women. The best candidates for Sculptra treatments in New York are men and women who want to stimulate collagen production and increase facial fullness in their cheeks or fill in deep facial wrinkles like nasolabial folds that extend along the sides of the mouth, chin wrinkles, and other wrinkles. Dana may recommend those with a history of poor wound healing or hypertrophic scarring to consider alternative treatments.
Sculptra Treatment
Sculptra injections are quick and minimally painful. The Sculptra filler will be injected into the desired treatment area(s) discussed during your consultation with Dana. This only takes a few minutes. For the best results, patients typically receive three treatment sessions scheduled over the course of 3-4 months, though results are still noticeable after the initial treatment.
Treatment Areas for Sculptra
- Volume Loss – Sculptra uses poly-lactic acid to stimulate collagen production over time and add volume to the face.
- Skin Texture – By stimulating collagen production and adding volume, the injectable can also fill in textural issues and rejuvenate the skin overall.
- Sagging Skin – Because Sculptra stimulates collagen production in the skin, it can tighten sagging skin as well. Collagen works as the structure and framework of the skin and with more structure, the skin will tighten and firm.
- Dull Complexion – Collagen can do more than tighten the skin; it can make it more radiant and youthful as well. Because Sculptra stimulates more collagen in the skin, it can address dullness and give you the glowing complexion you desire.
Recovery From Sculptra
There is virtually no downtime and recovery after Sculptra aesthetic treatment. Patients may experience minor swelling, bruising, and discomfort but this will improve within a couple of days. For 1-2 days, please avoid strenuous activity, direct heat, sun exposure, and sleeping directly on the injection site.
