What is Lumecca IPL?

Lumecca is a powerful form of intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. It’s used to treat pigmented and vascular lesions to give you clearer, more brilliant skin. Lumecca IPL treatment begins with the device being passed over the skin in the treated area. There will be a bright flash of light and you may feel a snapping sensation like a rubber band hitting your skin. Your provider will adjust the device to emit precise wavelengths of light to ensure the pigmented skin cells are destroyed.

How long your treatment session lasts depends on the size of the treatment area and the number of areas you’re having treated. You might need a couple of treatment sessions to achieve the results you’re looking for.

Recovery From Lumecca IPL Treatment

The skin will feel warm and may appear red for the first hour after treatment. Over the next 24-48 hours, you may also notice the pigmented spots on your skin actually darken but don’t worry. After a week after Lumecca IPL treatment, the pigmented spots will flake off and your skin tone will begin to even out. As for vascular lesions, they will begin to disappear a few days after treatment.

While you recover, make sure to avoid exposing the treated area directly to the sun and wear sunscreen every day.
